About the most irritating thing about the mastectomy is that I have a drain bottle and two feet of tubing attached to my chest to suck out the blood and cell liquid from the cavity where the breast tissue used to be. It is sort of like a fist sized bottle looking leech that needs to be emptied when it fills up- which at this point is about three times in a 24 hour period.

I had been wearing it pinned to a chain around my neck and sort of just dangling lose under my shirt when it suddenly occurred to me that my jerseys have pockets that are about the same distance from the wound as the chain. What a good solution this has turned out to be. the tube only shows a little as it passes out from under the jersey and dives into the pocket, the bottle is secure and not flapping around and I used to having a lump on my right hip. Plus the jerseys all have full length zippers which is easier on the sore arm than a t shirt.

Obviously I am a slow learner.

Will hit the doctor tomorrow for a follow up, biopsy results and possibly permission to drive. I think I am stuck with the drain for a bit longer because the drainage is nowhere under 1 ounce in 24 hours.

I may just decide to live in jerseys, they are the ultimate useful garment.
