I don't believe I've had Petit Verdot- although I may have had it in a blend. But tomorrow I am having a Pinot Meuniere! It will probably suck...

As does the Alice White 2005 Chard- all I can taste is oak- no fruit at all. I tried it cold and warmer- sucks at both temps. Too bad- it smelled so good!
Zero acid, too.

gruh. I hate it when they oak it too much. dpita's ex was a home brewer, made meads and wines of all sorts. Oaked the h*ll out of pretty much everything and as I like it light 'n fruity (NO PUNS, Knotted or CWR!) it totally ruined them for me.

If you ever try Momokawa sake, (with names like Diamond, Ruby, Pearl, and then the fruits) I actually work only a couple miles from their sakery. =)

And of course Riesling. Oh, and Chenin Blanc! I hadn't liked Chardonnay until recently, because of the oak, and the Alice White typifies what I hadn't liked perfectly...

I LOVE Gwurtz. I'll have to look up the Gremlin Gwurtz... it's made locally, I think... very nice art, very spicy, fruity taste. I'm alright with Pinot Gris- it depends on the brand and the year, though... I'm a riesling freak, though. =D
As much as I like whites, in the winter, there's nothing like a rich, syrupy Tawny or Ruby Port to warm you up. =)

I alternate, white one night, red the next. Sometimes a dessert wine on a special occasion. Although Bonny Doon makes an AWESOME Viognier dessert wine in a 500ml bottle that I can NOT resist. OMG!!! I like the fortified wines, too. I have only drank Florida native ports (750ml bottle for $8!!) but am hoarding a Quinta do Noval "real" port. For reds I love Shiraz/Syrah, Petite Sirah, sometimes Zinfandel. Sometimes Pinot Noir. Less often Merlot. Almost never Cabernet Sauvignon. Like Cabernet Franc and Lemberger and Malbec. Only tried one Rioja, didn't impress me. I am sitting on a Barolo, but haven't ever tried it. I like red blends a lot, too, and some white blends, particularly Rhones.

I'm going to do the Pinot Meuniere tonight, since the Chard sucked...

Liiiissseeee - are you back yet???

We're getting ready to eat dinner. Tonight we're having a one-dish meal. It's shrimp (seasoned with Old Bay of course), zuchinni, squash, stewed tomatoes, and corn - over rice. Chicken works well in this, too. It's totally easy and yummy.

Mr. Fish is waiting for me - he's running through the XM radio stations on Direct TV. FishJr seems to do interpretive dance to any kind of music. She's currently dancing to Queen (We Will Rock You). Yes, this is entertainment in our house

I'm back! Had to get dinner in the oven. I'm making something super easy, too. Chicken with green enchilada sauce, baked. I was going to make rice, but then thought--hey I love corn tortillas, I have corn tortillas, therefore: no rice, no extra pot to wash! We need a "therefore" symbol on the computer. You know, the three dots in a triangle.

So. The saddle. I like it. I'm reserving judgement a bit until I've ridden more. Also, I was so excited to get out on it that I forgot to take off my undies and put on Chamois butt'r before I pulled on my bike shorts! I'm riding, thinking, oh, crud. That feels like seams. It is seams. It's my undies. Shoot!

The saddle is firm. If it agrees with my sit bones, I will be very happy. I like the narrow nose. I did not feel any pain under my pubic bone. I hated the Serfas tri saddle because it made my pubic bone hurt so much. I took the allen wrench with me, and stopped a couple of times to move the seat back, then forward, tried it out for a couple of miles each way. I like it all the way back. That makes sense, as I'm pretty long legged. When I got home, I tilted it down a smidge, and will ride it that way next time. Rode 13 miles this evening. If it's a quiet night on call, I'll ride some more tomorrow. Without undies.

Nanci, you know I'm not supposed to drink when I read "that sucked so much I poured it out", and I thought, "you wasted alcohol?!@!"

What's Pinot Gris on the sweetness meter?

It just tasted weird. The cork looked good. It was a 2002- I think the amount of "brownness" it had was probably normal. It didn't taste _bad_, just icky. it smelled vaguely of fig, and I oculdn't relaly name what it tasted like. it was _almost_ fizzy.

Oh well. Two strikes, I'm out. Strangely, that's the second of three bottles from the same shop which was bad. The other had something major wrong with it. I have left, from there, one bottle of 2000 Gewurtz from Germany. It all came from a small shop in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The other bad wine was a German Pinot Noir Rose. Totally bad. Actually, I had a Martin and Weyrich Muscat from California, from the same seller. It was ok, as in not bad, but not something I would buy again. But my two bottles of Dahlonega gold were wonderful...

I wish I had room for a proper wine cellar.

Cripes, I _still_ feel my lungs lunging out of my chest in longing when I see someone light up a cig on TV- and I've quit for maybe 15 years. It totally disgusts me, but the addiction is there waiting for the slightest weakness.

Do you store them sideways to keep the cork wet? It tends to prevent shrinkage and still maintain the wine's ability to breathe... Oh, and use a little shot of C02 to blast out any oxygen-rich air that gets in the bottle before corking it... (unless you do all this already.)

Pinot Gris is about 21-24 brix. About 13-14% alcohol.

Yeah, you know, these guys I went out with this spring/summer, some of them really questioned me about why I don't drink *at all*. Like maybe I just over-reacted when I got sober 22 years ago. I wanted to ask them, "Really? You want to sign on for that little experiment? I drink 'socially' so you won't be uncomfortable on our date? How much insurance do you have?" Take my word for it. It's for the best, me not drinking! Hmm, let's see, I'm also allergic to certain antibiotics. Or shall I take some tonight and just see what happens?

I want to find a guy who's fit, smart, spiritual, and couldn't care less that I don't drink. Oh, yeah, and really digs me.
