I think that in Croatia more than 80% young people know English (more or less). I'm not sure but I believe that all high schools have either English or German as obligatory language. I hated German in my gymnasiumOriginally Posted by Veronica
, it was my second foreign language and I had one professor that was not quite fond of me and I'm sorry that i haven't learned it. Now I'm learning it and I pay $700 per year cause I'll need it for my future job... Message to all students - pay attention at classes, one day you may actually need it
I just hope to learn it, at least, as half as I know English.

iFKA, I, too, am impressed with your knowledge of English. Seems like you'd do well at German, too, since English is basically a Germanic language. Good luck with that!
BTW, just a point of clarification: your gymnasium is like our high school, right?

Yes, we have 8year elementary than 3 or 4 years high school (witch includes gymnasium). And after you finish 4 year high school you can go to universityOriginally Posted by Bad JuJu
BTW... it sounded like I'm praising myselfbut I just wanted to say that it isn't anything special cause most of our children start with learning foreign language when they're 9-10 years old.
