This is a friend?? Seems like a pretty mean trick to me.

I'm not a fan either, I tend to simply believe what people tell me.

That seems kind of mean . . . not a fun April Fools at all

I dread the day as well. My 6yo dd, however, LOVES the day. She was constantly saying things like "mom! There's a spider on your back! Mom! Your car is on fire! Mom! Mom! Mom!" Geeeze kid, give it a break!

I had just come in from a long hard ride too so I wasnt really thinking strait yet. It was still pretty lame I thought. We had been talking about how tired we both were from school so she said that 'now I know why I've been so tired'. I just hate always being the gullible one ya know.

The option is to assume people are lying to you and to question what they say, that takes too much energy so I'll just stay gullible.

In a global world, plus now some really factually wrong information on the Internet, etc., April's Fools jokes don't have the same impact anymore.

Beside let's remember: April Fool's tends to be "celebrated" by only certain Western cultures. It is cultural in context. People elsewhere simply don't get it unless they are told what Apr. Fool's Day means.

In the places where I've worked, certainly is not tolerated across an organization: ie. never send an April fool's joke to a whole pile of employees that you don't know or don't even bother wasting people's time.

    Save it for comedy shows.

    I agree, that was lame.

It's one thing to fall for the silly stuff (guilty!! ) but I gather a pregnancy for this individual is not a good outcome, and you had reason to be concerned.

People who deliberately mess with your feelings for them, and then throw your concern back in your face and laugh at you, are not remotely worthy of the title 'friend'.

And the people who laughed along with her are idiots. There are probably plenty others who saw it and thought "gee, that was lame" but maybe chose not to call her out on it.

    Just mho.

+1. There's nothing even remotely funny about what your friend did.

Historically I've hated April Fools - stupid jokes that aren't funny. I actually like the web version - Google had some fun information yesterday - but that sort is so obviously a "joke" and it isn't at a friend's expense.

Nope, a joke that makes fun of a friend's concern isn't just lame, it's mean and unfunny.

But I like the jokes in the papers. Some journalists are pretty good at making things sound juuust factual enough, but still a bit off. And the old ones are hilarious. There was a classic story on the tv news once in the 70s, when pasta was a strange and exotic food here, showing how Italian farmers harvested spaghetti off the spaghetti trees
