somewhere on you tube there is a video of the Dutch biking team out training on a windy day, and one of the guys is trying to remount his bike which is blowing out parallel to the ground.

I haven't ever been blown off my bike but I have been blown off the road on my bike.

YEs, this happened to me in the mountains. We weren't riding but were lying on the ground and holding our bikes. Still, the wind lifted me and tried to carry me somewhere else. The others held me and stopped me. It was scary.

Anelia - scary! Glad you weren't alone!

I've been out on windy days and have been blown over into the next lane, thankfully there were no cars on that country road. That was when I set a rule that I don't rind on the open road on windy days. If the winds are >17 mph then I just ride in the park (very large park with a ~7 mile route through the various roads). Greater than 25mph I don't ride there.

I didn't realize when I built up my custom bike last year that the spokes on my wheels are bladed, so they really catch the wind...

That's really scary and I'm glad that you are fine!! Last sunday when I rode here in FL it was windy and I felt my bike wobbling a little bit because of it. It crossed my mind that I could have fallen of the bike due to the wind. Even without wind I fall

That is one of my fears. I am glad you turned out to be ok. Wind gusts of 20-25 mph are my limit along with adjusting my route where I try to be a bit protected with no open road ways.
