Not being in expert in the explosion of niche mountainbikes of late....what, exactly, is the difference between an XC bike and a trail bike??
So the difference between XC and trail bikes generally, is that the XC bike geometry is a bit more "aggressive". This means a steeper head angle (in essence the fork is more vertical, and the front wheel closer to the bars). This makes it quicker turning and handling, and therefore racier over shortish distances. The trail bike has a slacker head angle, and more upright sitting position. They go downhill better/ more stable, and treat your body more kindly over longer distances. The suspension is also more plush

    Hope this makes sense?

Thanks everyone for sharing my excitement

I know the difference but couldn't have explained it so simply. Congrats on the new bike, enjoy it and good luck in your event!!
