Dr. Murray and Jackson is not news!!

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I am getting sick of hearing about dr murray did this or didn't, what the body guard, emt, cook all had to say on the stand. This was a tragic thing for all involved but its not news!!

I want to hear more about the usps rail-roaded into oblivion. I want to hear more about euro problem with pigs...

Last thing i want to hear is about personal tragedy. It should be kept private!

Thank you for letting me vent!!

You're obviously reading the wrong "news" sources... Try Democracy Now! for starters. If your local satellite/cable TV/radio station doesn't get them, you can stream the program from their website.

I had to think quite a bit to figure out who you were even talking about. I go straight to the health "news" on a couple of major US papers ... read my local papers in a fair amount of depth ... get my real news from a few different sources both domestic and foreign ... and never, ever watch network news if I can help it.

As for the USPS - imsho it's not competitive. Adapt or die.I

And yeah, if the news is bugging you, turn it off.

I hear ya. They had that on all of the tvs at the airport the other day (so I couldn't just "turn it off" but thanks for the suggestion) and it was pretty annoying. I find the public obsession with this sort of "news" to be a little disturbing. Next thing you know they'll be broadcasting celebrity divorce court, or something.

This is why I don't watch news on television anymore. I can never understand when the media decides to have a circus around something that isn't really news.

Better to read the paper, read online, where it is easy to skip over the stories that have no interest to me.

Internet news sources have made television irrelevant. You don't have to be a passive victim when it comes to news -- just put forth the effort to find better sources.

Believe it or not, this actually is on topic. You can't have a rational discussion of the USPS's competitiveness vel non, without discussing how its revenues are sucked off by complying with laws that don't apply to other shippers. And if a "news" source is simply "reporting" that the USPS is in trouble, then moves on to the death of some celebrity or pretty little white girl without discussing why the USPS is in trouble, then that's a problem.

Simplistic reporting happens in part because that's what people want. Same reason for celebrity coverage -- it is popular. When people complain about "the media" I think the complaint really should be about "the audience," at least in part.

Slightly related to the above is a story from The Onion which made me laugh.

    Thanx Oak,

you and I are on the same page. yup this is why I originally said USPS is rail-roaded into oblivion. Who has ever heard of having to put away 75 years of pension and do it in 10 years. Well, this isn't the place for politics so I'll just let it be on here.

No, I listen to only available progressive radio station during the day and on every hour is the "news". And there I hear about Jackson... WHY???!!!

Democracy Now is good. I also go on Thom's web site and raising cane on their economics forum especially after my partner told me of that there are paid schills there.
