No help for V, but @ zoom-zoom, have you tried the DeSoto sleeves? I'm prone to overheating too, and although they weren't any cooler than bare arms once they're waterlogged (which happens almost immediately), they weren't any hotter either on last summer's humid 95 degree long runs - you bet I rolled them down a few times to see.

And they are actually cooler than skin if you live in an arid environment (which I know Michigan is NOT, but I just thought I'd add that tidbit). Once they are wet, they do a fantastic job of keeping the evaporative cooling going. Way better than my bare arms! My cool wings weren't much good in the NC summer, but out here they are fantastic. I wear them gardening, too!

V - have you tried the 2011 Tyr tri tops? I just bought the tank one (and tried on the sleeveless one) and both were quite long even on my long torso. Bending over to my toes, there was NO gap at all. You could do that and then add cool sleeves or cool wings or some other such item.

V - have you tried the 2011 Tyr tri tops? I just bought the tank one (and tried on the sleeveless one) and both were quite long even on my long torso. Bending over to my toes, there was NO gap at all. You could do that and then add cool sleeves or cool wings or some other such item.

I did try that. I really like the TYR top. It's really long, but the cool wings and the top didn't quite cover my lats. So, I'm going to send them back and continue my quest for something that will cover all my burn spots. Stupid fair skin...

I also bought (from TE) the Zoot Ultra bra top. That I really like. Ran in it this morning. Nothing moves in that top.

My plan is to wear that for the swim and then add whatever top I pick in transition.

Ooh, good to know. I have the Tyr competition tri suit for this season, but I need a bra to wear under it (because of the run). I don't need much support, but I need something. I can't find anything that will be quick drying, supportive enough for the run, but that doesn't make me feel like I'm encased in steel for the rest of the race (particularly the swim). Ugh!

I have a very old UA bra top that works, but it's pale blue (and my suit is the red/black combo) and it looks awful under it. I might just wear it anyway as comfort is way more important than looks right now...but I'd like to find something in white or black for the rest of the summer.

How about a 1 piece tri suit and arm coolers? And then just put on serious sunscreen right on the shoulders?

I use Planet Sun during the triathlons - it's solid and yeah, goop it on.

I'm in Hawaii, so this is a pretty HARSH environment when the sunscreen fails. It's not a choice.

I wear a 1 piece De Soto Tri suit and usually just goop up really well. But I might try the Reco Fit arm coolers that I wear biking for my next tri. The less goop I have on the better I feel.

I have thought about a one piece - I have one I have worn for shorter races. The trouble with sleeveless is that sun screen seems to rub off along the edges of the top on my back. Doesn't matter how much I slather on, so I want my back fully covered. In a HIM I have to use the restoom at least once and taking off something like the wings and undoing the front of a one piece... too time consuming.

I'm actually allergic to sunscreen so i bought the ground effects long sleeve jersey w/ spf for a 2 day ride in Sept up to Sac. 104* and I was doing ok (cept we ran outta water for the last 20 miles )

But I did ok. I liked it better than the Boure spf jersey. The ground effects one looks thicker (kinda wooley) but it kept me cooler. Odd.

You shoulda seen the looks I was getting wearing a long sleeve, wooly jersey in 104* weather I actually think I was cooler than the folks in short sleeves.

Other than that, I wear the REI SPF shirts but I know you don't like the whole flapping thing. I get REALLY weird looks when I ride in that shirt down Foothill. Man.. what a Fredwina..

I have one of these. Totally agree. I wear it under a tri top (with or without shelf) for Ironman and I totally forget about it.

For short distance tris, I wear the one-piece suit (great if you don't have to pee, good enough boob-compression). For longer distance, I have been wearing a real bike jersey, because most tri shorts and tops don't end up long enough and I'd end up with the same gap/sunburn thing. For the arms, I think this year I'm going to get some of the arm coolers and see how that works.

I imagine that precious white bike jersey ending up all kinds of other colors. My TE "she loves hills" has some curious marks on it, I think from permanent ink numbers on arms along with being stuffed in a bag with sandy wetsuit and gels. Still my favoritest jersey ever.

I got this today. Oh my goodness... it leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination! You can see my belly button through it! So glad I've got a pretty flat tummy now.

Because it is skin tight (and I ordered a large!) I don't think it will make a good race top for me. But since I got it for my daytime long runs, not racing, that's okay.

I went with a large because the medium was a 34 -36 in the chest and the large 36 - 38. I'm a 36 A, but I have shoulders and back muscles. It's actually quite long in the back and if it had a zipper could make a great race top. The arms are very form fitting and I wonder how hard it would be to get on while wet.

Hopefully, our spring will truly arrive I can wear it on my long run this weekend.

I'm a bit disappointed with my new top. I wore it for my "fun" run. I was planning to get in three miles before I go back to school for Open House tonight. I took off with it sunny and 80 degrees out. I could definitely feel the cooling properties and that's a plus.

But I'm not sure the styling is going to work for me. It is a very compressive garment and it's very long. The trouble is, it doesn't stay down and when it rolls up, that's two or three layers compressing on my belly. It did not make for a "fun" run. I did 1.5 miles and called it quits.

I remember having issues like that with under armor tops. They want to go to the thinnest part of my waist, no matter how long the top is, so they just bunch up and I get burned on my low back.

My sister has safety pinned her shirt to her shorts during a tri. I guess that's also a pain if you need to pee...but I wonder if maybe you could sew (do you sew?) a couple snaps or something to your top and your shorts that would make them stay together but not be so hard to undo. I don't think the new shirt would need much encouraging to stay down, but it needs to be stuck to something.

The DeSoto jersey and arm coolers worked out pretty well - no burning. It probably helped that it stayed overcast well into my run.

The jersey was a bit difficult to get on to a wet body. The sleeves went on pretty quickly. I just had them down by my wrists for the first ten miles or so and then pulled them up at my leisure.

The location of the pockets on the jersey did make it hard for me to get out food. The pockets are really deep. I'll probably try a different jersey for next year's race.

I am thrilled to have no sunburn!
