I am just into my second year of riding (since July 2009). Since getting up to speed in the fall, I usually get 100 miles a week, +/-. I try to find time for 2 mid-week rides of 10-20 miles, a 20 mile commute on Fridays, and at least one longer ride (35-50) on the weekends. I am getting ready for El Tour de Tucson this year, and would like to ride the full 109 miles, so I am expecting my miles to go up to 125-150 per week as it gets closer.
My speed has increased from 12.5 to nearly 15, occasionally 16-17 if it's not on a route with big hills or if I ride with a group. I would like to be a little faster, but I think it would take committing myself to being more serious about incorporating intervals, and I'm not sure how much I want to do that. I like enjoying riding.
