Only...I didn't get it due to doctor's orders for more sun...but I succumbed to peer pressure from the hot skinny-minnies on my group ride who told me I should show off my recent (very minor and recently re-found) weight loss.

I am not a peer pressure succumber when it comes to clothing... but retail therapy? YEAH
and Spokewrench, we in the NW have to maximize our sun exposure and even then it might not be enough...

7 rider congrats on the weight loss!

    Thanks.
Perhaps best said: I did it on a dare. It was cheap, on closeout from STP, and as I said to one of those skinny-minnies....it'll be good for a laugh, if nothing else!

So you're saying I should arrive with some sun on me? And take extra Vit D in the future?

There's hope. When I started cycling, I wore LS wool tops when it was 65 degrees out! Now I wear sleeveless pretty much above 70, unless it's very cloudy.
I can't imagine not wearing sleeveless. I have come to the conclusion I go almost straight from long sleeves to sleeveless, with maybe a 4 week interval around April-May where I use my short sleeved jerseys.

I have noticed that I can't seem to handle short sleeved jerseys for temps > 70 degrees.... so I guess that I need to focus future jersey purchases for winter and summer and just forget about the in-between

Am I correct in assuming that there will be pre-season sales for winter jerseys and other winter cycling gear? I still have mine from last year of course, but will need to sell them since I have cycled my way out of them...

In July, Vancouver, BC had less than 1 millimetre of rain. Which is alot less than 1/4 of an inch.

Still no rain in Aug. so far. Meanwhile 400 forest fires are burning in British Columbia right now. There's a haze in our area..they say it's partially from the forest fires, several hundred kms. away from us. But then we seem to go through this forest fire alert/ problem every summer in our province.

Have fun with your sleeveless jersey, mimi.

I actually find it ok with my short-sleeves. Maybe because I've never really forgotten the more humid heat in Ontario. Not today, but other days, I can still sometimes feel a slight cool Pacific temp. edge in our summer air here.

Ok, so I'm not totally adapting..but then it's easier when I vacation elsewhere with higher humidity.

    Yes, oh yes!!

You can get big honkin' bottles of D-3 for cheap at Costco. Start taking it immediately.

Not only do we get less sunlight than you are used to, but we also get our sunlight at a different angle than you are used to (fewer photons per square inch, even on cloud-free days).

And any tan you have developed in the New Orleans summer is only going to hinder your ability to make vit D here.

Seriously, start the Vit D-3 on your first day here, don't wait.

I've never taken Vitamin D supplement at all since I've lived in Vancouver. And Vancouver's weather really is not that much different from Seattle's.

Nor has any doctor recommended this to me. I actually had a dermatologist examine my face for any possible growth, (plus my whole body). Whew, I was clear but heavily advised about the sun block.

I'm sure I'll hear a lecture from sister-doctor if I suggest ingesting Vitamin D supplement. She'll laugh at me: You? Who is outdoors cycling enough year round?

You see, I hear her muttering about patients not understanding the consequences about taking too much vitamin E, etc. without doctor's knowledge.
