As soon as you proofhide it, the design will drastically change. (the carved part will absorb the proofhide and darken more than the finished part) It would also darken with sweat.

Tooled leather http://www.wallbike.com/b18.html might be the better way to go if one were planning to actually use the saddle, but her art sure is pretty!

Still breaking in my brooks saddle done about 450 miles to date so only 550 to go or so they say!!!!!!

I have a brown plain on on my bike and a black one on the tandem.

Beats gel saddles anytime.

Now THIS is pretty - but I have always loved tooled leather. The painted saddles certainly are beautiful though - I can't imagine actually sitting on one though.

I don't know if I will ever brave a Brooks saddle again, but they certainly are good looking saddles!
