Ok--you might know this one, but it is awesome! DH and I had a blast with it last night.
3 frozen bananas
Place them in the food processor. Leave them there for 5-10 minutes (seriously, it takes a WHILE).
They will end up like soft serve ice cream! If you leave it in long enough, it is really a totally different texture than the smoothies we make in the blender. It was AWESOME! I topped my with a drizzle of honey and a drizzle of natural peanut butter! Great post 3 hour ride dessert!
I think you could get really creative with the toppings too!

For 3 days, I get to part of a thousand other journeys.
if you mix in cocoa powder it is chocolate soft serve ice cream!
I have a wicked ice cream recipe that blends in bananas like that for the fruit/flavor component...
How ripe should the bananas be when you freeze them? I know that if you make banana bread, you want overripe ones - lots of brown spots on them.
Is that true with this recipe too? Is the flavor better when the bananas are really ripe?
Thanks,
Lynette
I tried this out and loved it, and raved about it, and I've gotten a lot of other people hooked on it too. I'm on a no-sugar diet so I've added other things.
We've added:
-strawberries
-peaches
-mexican vanilla
-1 tsp each cinnamon, vanilla, and cocoa powder (to 4 bananas)
We've discovered:
-peel the bananas before freezing
-break the bananas into chunks before freezing so your food processor doesn't leap out of the kitchen
