    finding training partner

Looking for any tips, experiences, for finding a matched training partner.

This is for rec distance riding. Charity events, centuries, etc.

My riding partner I found last year is great for fun, and fitness... but not interested in doing any events of that many miles. I have met a few people in the bike club. But, they have all "been there, done that". Striking out so far in my hopes.

After my crash trying to complete my century last year, I have a different view of riding alone.

I'd place a classified ad in a friendly place where your possible ride partners would see it (and where local creeps would not).

such a place (where local creeps are not) does not exist!
Life goes by pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, and do whatever you want all the time, you could miss it.

We have a local online cycling forum with a section for newbies to introduce themselves. People often include that they are looking for people to ride with in a certain area along with the type of riding they do, their distance and pace. I have responded to a few of them myself to invite riders in my area to ride with my group. You might check into that.

I haven't tried it yet, but there is also a meetup group in my area that does rides. You might try that.

OK, thx thus far for the thoughts. Yep, it's attracting what you want, and what you do not (psychos) that's the trick.
