    Bleeding . . . Warning TMI

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I think I'm falling apart because I've had weird medical symptoms lately. Here's the latest:

I went for a 6.5 mile run today. I took it easy, did some walk/jogging, I didn't feel it was too strenuous, but its still a high mileage for me.

Right afterwards I urgently had to use the restroom. And then again, about two more times. There was some pinkish color, so I assumed I started my period--even though its two weeks early. So I used a tampon.

Two hours later, I've bled through. Which didn't surprise me because my abdomen was uncomfortable. However, the tampon was clean. So it's not coming from there.

Calling doctor in the AM. This one is making me a little nervous.

Get to a doctor ASAP. Unexplained bleeding is never good. I hope you're feeling better soon!

I agree with Zen. I don't think you should wait until morning. That's scary.

    ER! RIGHT NOW!

If I had your phone number, I'd be calling you and telling you this!

I had rectal bleeding after a few long runs last summer. Had to go for a colonoscopy (or was it a sigmoidoscopy?, can't remember). Anyway, luckily my doctor was a marathoner. They found nothing and he concluded I was fine and that it sometimes happened with runners.

I think it's a good idea for you to get it checked out but I want you to know that you shouldn't worry at this point. Please email or DM me if you want more info.

While running does cause very minor blood loss from the intestines (and broken capillaries in one's feet--things that can contribute to anemia in runners), I have been running for almost 4 years...trained for and run 3 marathons. I've never had noticeable rectal bleeding. Girl, please get into the ER ASAP! Bleeding (especially with abdominal discomfort) should always be taken seriously, even if it ends up being benign.

And just I wasn't clear, I *do* agree you should get it checked out.

Limewave, did you use extra effort to go to the washroom? That also can cause bleeding... like it did for me. It was confirmed after seeing dr.

    Anyway let us know afterwards.

I'm waiting to hear back from the nurse at the dr's office. If she doesn't get back with me in 15 minutes, I'm on my way to the hospital.

No real changes overnight. Still "leaking" blood, it's coming from the "urethral" opening. But my urine is clear. I have some abdominal pain and lower back pain. Will update when I know more.

Figures this would happen, we're supposed to leave on first family vacation in 3 years tomorrow

That's scary. Here's hoping it's something that's simple to resolve and you can enjoy your vacation - sounds like it's overdue!!

The unexplained vision loss is why I was worried about you driving yourself to the ER. I hope you have someone to drive you to the doctor, too.

    Please keep us updated.

ETA: the adrenaline/stress issues, the vision issues, the pain in the kidneys, and the persistant (it's been more than 12 hours, right?) bleeding from the kidneys could all be related. Your doctor already knows all the problems you've been having lately, but if you go to the ER they won't be familiar with your history. Please be sure to tell them EVERYTHING that's been going on lately, even if you don't think it's related.
