What's a wheel say about you?

Following my interesting Friday night blowout experience, I took the SilverBoys to the battleship USS Alabama on Saturday to kill time.

On the way back, we stopped at Eastern Shore Cycling, a Specialized shop in Daphne Alabama, to get a new tire and to true my wheel.

While truing the wheel, the wrench says "So, how do you like your Madone?"

Me: "I love my Madone...but how did you know I have a Madone?"

Wrench: "High end tires, on a non-standard Bontrager wheel, for a guy 600 miles from home who brought his bike for a two day trip - has to be a Madone."

This guy was the Sherlock Holmes of bike mechanics! I suspect they're a good shop!

Now that would be funny. Mr. Wrench: "Good morning, Mr. Silver. How did that five dollar bill work out for you yesterday?"

That would be funny...kinda like the time Mr. HoosierGiant walks up to me at the Hilly Hundred and says "aren't you Mr. Silver?" But from there I made a new friend!

As for the Wrench, there are so few men on here...I've met or talked on the phone to all of them...so Mr. Wrench would have to admit that he was posing as a woman (and besides, his legs weren't shaved)

Well, I'm not saying he's a registered user! Like right now, there are 55 registered users on, and 196 "guests".

Yep, being Alabama natives, we're there often. Silver's parents, and much of her family, live in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

We'll often do the Interrarity to Fort Morgan route when we're down there and in the mood for a windy long ride.
