My husband and I did a long-weekend kayaking vacation in the San Juans on a tandem. I think if I suggested buying one he might give me "the look"We had a good time, but it was definitely an exercise in working together.
It sounds sweet, though.

I'm testing the waters here, as towards the end of September we are going to test drive a Hobie kayak. If we like it then this one will have to go.
Our Wilderness Systems is AWESOME. Phase 3 seats, it is five years old, we purchased it from Ducktrap in Maine. New, it goes for $1220, and this one has a rudder, which is a big upgrade and a great feature. We'll throw in two old PFDs. $600.

Tandem kayaks are often referred to as "divorce boats." My partner and I do everything together, hike, bike, kayak. Two old maids paddling away and having a good time of it!
