Hi, here's some ideas about the saddles I've tried. They are all quite narrow because I absolutely cannot tolerate any saddle wider than 130mm or so.
The SLR is pretty narrow, I used the SLR for a while and still have it on two bikes - waiting to replace both with a carbon seat. The SLR is nice and if they made it with no padding it could be almost perfect![]()
If you can still find it, Selle San Marco Era Arrowhead Gelaround is a little narrower than the SI SLR and also a little less padded, very very nice saddle - too bad they don't make that one anymore and it weighs more than the SI.
My absolute favorite, which I discovered about a year ago, is the Selle San Marco Aspide carbon SL. It does not have a cutout but has a groove that relieves pressure the same way - there is no padding at all, it weighs 100g, and it is quite narrow. It's the most light and comfortable seat I have ever owned. I would recommend to try that one, if your local shop has it.
I have tried the Selle SMP carbon and liked it very much - but it's a little wider than the Aspide SL at the nose (and even more expensive!!!). Same as above, if the shop has one ask to try it.
My time trial bike came in with a Fizik Arione, which I tried for a couple of rides. It is fairly narrow although wider than the SSM - but definitely way too much padding - and I replaced it right away. If you like padded seats you can give Fizik a try as well.
Hope this helps
