    Bike to Work day 2009

    Good Morning!

    Who biked to work today?

This is my 3rd BTWD and by far the best so far: 2007 was cold and 2008 was rainy but today was great, if a bit humid. Since I knew I'd be having breakfast at the rally point I was able to get out of the house an hour earlier than usual. I discovered that it's so much nicer biking in at 6:20 than it is at 7:20; quieter, with less traffic. I think my future commutes will include breakfast here near work!

Our rally point was sponsored by Bob's Bikes of Poolesville. I mentioned that we've biked past on the Peachtree Loop (I think) and he pointed out that he gives out free water and has a clean bathroom available. He was demo'ing electric-assist bikes, one by Ohm and one by Giant and I got to try both. It's a strange feeling.

Swag: water bottle, BTWD socks, T-shirt, funky pen, MD bike map; found a picture they took of me last year and got to take it with me.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Yeah, I'm glad they finally got a break on the weather on BTWD. My swag was t-shirt, water bottle, reflective thingy like Regina has for the ankle or the stem, neck chain from kryptonite (I needed a new one for work), Swiss chocolate biscuits (I'm assuming they're not vegan), ankle strap for pants leg, rear blinkie light from Smartwool, coupon for buy one/get one smartwool socks, and a sticker that says "I bike because I'm awesome".

The line for food was too long, so I skipped that and the raffles and headed back to the office.

Cool that there was a picture of you from last year.

I did, and got nothing but teasing from the folks at work.

I'm always amazed at how different the swag is at different rally points. Did you hit Freedom Plaza? I'm guessing that the busiest. Love that bumper sticker!

Today was the only day this week that I did not bike to work. And I feel guilty! When I walked in my building, one of the security guards said, "You - of all people! You should be ashamed of yourself!" I'm meeting some of my running friends this afternoon for a beer so biking would not have worked out. It's nice to look out the window and see all of the cyclists going by.

My BF gave me a BtW tee-shirt that he got last year, so I guess that's good enough!

    Wow.
The Disco pit stop in SS stunk this year.
T-shirt and a plastic wallet thingy with band-aids and what not in it.
    That's it.
Some maps and handouts stuff that I never take. But it was pretty lame.
There was a Fuji tent there that I think belonged to Silver Cycles. Mike wasn't there. I heard he finally got his wish and was at NIH this year.
I had a mini-muffin, grabbed a Powerbar, banana, and juice, and left.
The NOAA juicer was MUCH better...if I do say so myself! Could be b/c I organized it, eh? Had gels and drink mix to hand out, and lots of raffles, bagels and cream cheese and lots of info and comraderie. When I get home, I'll upload the pix my DH took of me leaving this morning. I was wearing my full NOAA kit and needed to show it off!!!

It's even a good picture. I've got to scan it and upload it. It might even be good for RunningMommy's wall.

I got yet another waterbottle. It was great to see all the bikes out there though, it was great! Here's a photo my DH took this morning. Don't know what this pineapple is all about!

Sad. Do these folks do any form of exercise/healthy eating?
