I biffed it off my surly this weekend too! Bummer about your rim... I don't have anything to offer you but commiseration over the lack of skin on my hands...![]()

Ginny,
I'm glad your bike's okay. Wear gloves when riding, it's better than sanded palms (of course, I had to sand a palm once before actually learning that lesson)
Zen,
Great, thanks! I was hoping someone would have some spare old wheels that they'd kept around after an upgrade.
I guess the good thing about this is that I now will definitely have a dedicated trainer wheel, with a slightly indented rim.
I know... I always always wear gloves when going for a road ride, but just tooling around town.... While I always wear a helmet when cruising around town for coffee or whatever, I am often lax on the closed toe shoe thing and the gloves... I shall chock it up as a lesson learned and wear my gloves.
Glad it sounds like you have found a rim. What a bummer!
Ha. I was only going to the post office!
It was mildly cold, which was probably why I had gloves.

No worries, I'm eyeing on on ebay if it doesn't get bid up too much. And there's always REI's $40 wheel.
Thanks for looking!
