Give it 3 rides, and you will feel better. I had major changes done in the fall and went through the same thing. Three rides was what it took for us to get to know each other again.

So after my big crash last week I get the wise idea to change a bunch of stuff on my bike!!
I had kenda small block 8's on her, and they are horrible for our conditions out here- loose, sandy, with rocky bits.
So Intense Tyres sports me a pair of system 2's to try. And then I see that the pink Hope brakes I've been coveting are on closeout w/ our distributor.
So now I have a new tubeless set up, with new tread, and new brakes to boot.
So I head out on my maiden voyage post nasty crash. It was horrible! My bike felt all different, and I didnt like it. I ended up walking stuff I normally can ride. But I'm still freaked out from crashing, and my bike doesn't feel "right", so I have no confidence in it. UGH.
Not a time to change things when I'm already freaked out about riding. UGH!
Why do I do things like this??

LOL! You sound like me.
What about Nevegal tires? Is there really anything that works in loose sand??
It takes time to get confidence back. Give it a few more tries. I like to ride my bike around my neighborhood and practice riding up and down curbs, stairs, through sand pits on the side of the road, etc.--all to help build some confidence for when I get out on the trails. It helps me to know what my bike is capable of before I do a serious ride.

I have little input but I know it takes me forever to get over a minor spill and you had a big one! What are these snazzy brakes you put on, they sound neat.

I'm sorry your ride was so sucky. I HATE when I loose my mojo... it takes forever to get back. Might take awhile of playing with the tire pressure with your new setup till you find the sweet-spot. Hang in there!!
Thanks all! Still have the mojo, just not the confidence. Intense was nice enough to send us a bunch of tires to try, so I may put something a bit more grippy on her. I have pics on my photobucket site of my new brakes.

Running Mommy - since you now have tubeless; try them with a lot less air than you normally run. That's one of the perks of tubeless; it might make them handle really nicely and grip really, really well!

Oh the pink brakes are wicked looking! I love it. What kind of pedals do you have? It looks great, too bad it isn't feeling better. I am sure it will all click back. That was one nasty wreck last week.

the pedals are crank brothers 5050. They have interchangable color plates. So they are pink and silver. I'm remedial when it comes to mtn biking, so I dont clip in.
Isn't the worst idea. I still haven't given up but I keep toying with idea of being a complete mountain bike fred and putting a platform on my left side, leave the clip on the right. DH is appalled at the thought. Like he should even get an opinion, right? We can't all be the cool kids.![]()

actually we have more than a few customers who are very good mtn bikers who ride platforms. A couple of guys race and are pretty fast too??
I just need to develop my skills a bit more.
I think am going to try the Time XS first. I am not convinced with my weak ankles the Candies are easy release as advertised. I feel locked in them which stinks because they are yellow and I really like them. Sorry to threadjack.
I really like the pink brakes, did the mechanics balk at putting them on? There are a couple at my shop that never seems to be put off by my need for my bikes to be "pretty". The others kind of look at me like "okay, whatever".
