wouldn't it be nicer to just have ONE off topic forum? I see no point in moving them.

Doesn't anyone click the 'new posts' button at the top? It automatically lets you see all the threads that were active since you last logged in, no matter what category they're in.

The forum adminstrators had understandable reasons for moving threads to that area. I have no problem with it. And yes, I usually hit the new posts link.

Not sure why this thread was started. Think I will just put it on ignore.

Most of the time I don't know in which forums the threads are posted. I just do "new posts" and read whatever is there that I am interested in...

That's what I do, too. From an administrative perspective, I am curious as to the difference between open, noncycling topics and a way, way off topic topics.
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

I think the way off-topic ongoing discussions started in the open topic category but eventually became almost chat rooms (see Thread Drift and OT: Australia for examples). Fun places to be in. Just not really a thread in the usual sense.
