    Smile Kitty Rocks!

I just attended my very first artfest this past weekend. I sold a few pieces of art and photography - and had a great time! For years I have snapped pics of wildlife and nature to use as painting references, but my friends kept telling me that my photography was worthy of purchasing, so I agreed to be part of a local art show and share a space with a friend and her handmade jewelry. I enjoyed being outside in the nice cool fall weather and meeting all the interesting folks that stopped by to chat and look at my stuff. Next time I will be taking some of my handpainted animal rocks - I have attached a pic of one of my kitty rocks. I have only worked off commission and entered a few juried shows over the years, but never tried to sell art at the local festival/art shows. It was just too fun!! And I saw quite a few folks on their cycles too! The park has a bike trail that I will have to explore soon!

Glad you had fun. My older brother is completely artistic and creative, not me. I am super jealous he got those genes. My mammaw is as well and I got none of it and I really want to be able to do artsy stuff.

Post some of your other rocks, do you only do kitties?

OK.. I'm always one to look at a photo first, then read. I thought that was real! That's pretty talented, lady! Glad you had a good experience at the festival! Post more of your work -- we'd love to see it!

Thanks everyone! I try to paint them as realistic as possible and usually do commissioned ones. My vet actually got me into painting the rocks. She had a client who lost a pet and wanted a permanent marker for their garden. I had never painted on rocks before, so I used my very willing cat Indy to pose for one and used some special paints that are for painting porches, flower pots, etc. and found that I really enjoyed painting rocks. The one I posted on this thread is named Powder and lives at my vets office.
Tuckervil: I am still trying to put together a website, but if anyone is interested just PM me and I will give you my phone and contact info. I will post a pic of one of the dogs I have done and Indy when I get home tonight.
The garden supply place where I select my rocks is amazed when I tell them that they will be dogs, cats birds, turtles, etc.!
