In my next life I'm racing cross, it wasn't around when I was coming up.
Great finish! What kind of venue was that with the steps and the store front area?

Most excellent - your first race and you did so well
Great race report - I tried to link to your pix, but I'm on dial-up - I'll have to wait til I am at work with a faster connection (ssssh, don't tell the boss!)
A few of the gals here have posted great and fun and interesting (and sometimes dangerous and painful) CC reports, and I feel sooooo close to conversion when I read them.
So you have me thinking again....
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow".
Very cool -- congrats on such a great race!
The bike club here is putting on an "Cross Intro" this Monday night. Think I'll go if I can get out of work on time. I find it quite fascinating and it just plain looks fun to play in the mud!![]()
Everyone Deserves a Lifetime
Guh! How awesome for you! I so want to do this! CONGRATULATIONS!
I can do five more miles.
Wow! What a great report! Congrats!
I did my first cross race yesterday, and it was a much different experience than yours. There were only 3 women in the C class.
Alex
Thanks for all the great replies! I haven't been able to get back to the forum for a couple of days.
This particular race was held at the Alpenrose Dairy. It's an interesting venue. I guess a lot of people who grew up closer to the venue have memories of visiting "Dairy Town" when they were kids. And those stairs are always part of the course. There's also a velodrome there that's always part of the 'cross course. It's definitely the most popular venue of the series, and in total we had 1,267 riders, I think? The series just keeps getting bigger.
There's a local group that has some great pictures of the event.
Alex, your 'cross showing sounds like most of the mountain bike fields I raced in last season. I nearly always podiumed. It was silly. In fact, I'm a state champ due to lack of participation
Last Sunday's race was really fun, but I was completely exhausted from a couple of nights of too little sleep. I was having a bit more trouble keeping my HR down, and I think it slowed me down a little. But I lined up much better, and ended up getting 9th out of the 65 beginner women in my field. I won't be racing next weekend (big mountain biking weekend, instead), but the Halloween Cross weekend should be pretty amazing! I can't wait!![]()
I don't crash so much anymore (less blood on the trail), so just call me Stephanie
I'll tell you what I think of bicycling. I think it has done more to emancipate women than any one thing in the world. I rejoice every time I see a woman ride by on a bike. It gives her a feeling of self-reliance and independence the moment she takes her seat; and away she goes, the picture of untrammelled womanhood. ~ Susan B. Anthony
