WElcome Allez!! I loved the "followed me home" line...so how Do ya'll get these bikes to just follow you home??.

and arah: yeah they're vintage bikes now - just like me! I have a 1985 Peugeot Avoraiz road bike and a 1989 Trek 1100 road bike, both light and both fast (Unlike me!) and both old!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

    Thanks Bouncy and Corsair!

Bouncy--Yes! I'm doing the Covered Bridge too, I've heard it's a great !! I'm doing it by myself since my "teammates" bailed. (There were 3 of us that rode the PADutch together, we decided to form a "team" and call ourselves the Flygirls, esp. funny since my average speed for that ride was 12 MPH and I was the fastest ) I will be on a road bike for this one (I've graduated!) If you'd like some company drop me a line!

Welcome to all who have introduced themselves recently!

I figured I could add a little to my own introduction. When I posted before I said I was unemployed - not anymore. I just got my very first teaching job this morning. I have one week to prepare myself and am very overwhelmed, but excited. and that means I'm moving from MI back to OH (and I won't have nearly as many hills to deal with - and just when i was beginning to like them )

Corsair, we just found this out...Queen sez get yourself a Park multi tool, bikes dig 'em, they follow you home.

Jaz, congrats on the new job!

ok - so does the Size of the tool determine the Cost of the bike following me home??

I think it's more the finesse of the tool than the size.

Trek going dangerously close to OT

So does the bike say "is that a multi tool in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

    Real name: Jessica
Where do you live? Phoenix, AZ

Explanation of your handle: I've always been Lady Jai (Jay) online.

Explanation of your avatar: I love fish. I have 3 tanks: 125Gallons, 55Gallons, and 10Gallons. I love cycling. A friend found me the pin, said it fit me perfectly. I agreed and am using it as my tag.

Age (general or specific) 24, working on 25

    Occupation: Graphic Designer

    Favorite bike: one without flats!

What's in your stable? Specialized Hardrock Ultra

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when?
I don't have a roadbike, but on my hybrid: 35mph downhill, Mummy Mountain, clinging as close to the bike as I could.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Here's the Tank:

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I'm with michelle here. I have lied before, but I don't want to, and I try not to.

Most memorable moment on my bike: most memorable - sliding on gravel and tearing up my knee and panicing about how long I'd be stuck off it. I have pictures, but I'm sure you don't want to see ;-). oh! I know! the major storm I got stuck in 2 years ago. I was riding for fun south, downhill, and with a tailwind, enjoying myself. I then realized that ... the wind was not a good one, it was a dust storm rolling in! I was about 10 miles from home, and I turned around and started up what I thought would be the safest route, against the dust storm, which quickly turned into a major monsoon storm. it was only 2 miles wide (on either side of me), but it was long! I ended up having to hole out in a store, as I couldn't see in front of my face. It passed in 30 minutes and I was on my way, a little soggier :-D.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Keeping up with the fast group on Saturday mornings. riding roads I remember struggling on, and going several miles faster, with little effort!

    Real name: Pam

Where do you live? Pittsburgh, PA

Explanation of your handle: My initials. Creative old bugger, ain't I?

Explanation of your avatar: Sheesh! I don't know what would embody me.

    Age (general or specific) 45

    Occupation: Electrical engineer

Favorite bike: Seven Ti Axiom.......beautiful craftsmanship!

What's in your stable? Trek 5200 (old), LeMond WSD Zurich that may get hacked and coupled for a travel bike, Seven Ti Axiom, Specialized Stumpjumper Comp. And may I mention a Honda Shadow 1100? I love anything with two wheels!

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? I'd hit 34 mph in sprints with the guys around Lake Charles, LA in the 90's. This year with them, I could only hit 31 mph. Downhill at Seven Springs Ski Resort I hit 56+ mph last year. I've tried to top it but no go with conditions, head winds and traffic. I haven't topped the mountain at Seven Springs this year.

Another picture of yourself or your ride?

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: To Mother when I was 10ish, "Yes ma'am, I practiced the piano." After that spanking, I'd learned that lesson.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Finishing the Tour de Strongland last year after a nasty crash early in the race. Road rash and blood on the left side of my body didn't prevent me from finishing the race. A few miles after the crash, pain set in, sweat was stinging the open flesh. Besides my friends helping me clean up, the most memorable aspect of that race was a fella' telling me he was having a bad day on the bike as I passed him for the second time. He commented on the crash, which he'd seen. I told him I was having a great day on the bike.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Screaming descents plus so many other rides and people. It's hard to not have fun on every ride.
