Not going to be able to make it. I'm just not up to 50 miles at this point... I've hardly been riding at all. However, I would love to do this ride in October if you guys schedule another one. Please keep us posted!

I might be up for one in October, too. Any excuse to go to the coast!

There's been a new development. Blaine's college buddy who was coming out to visit now has to go to Venezuela for work and can't come, which means, I can come ride with you all!

AG, would you mind telling me the route that we're taking, kind of specifically? I don't mean to be a pain, but I'd like to try to figure out a spot where we could meet, have a look at my Krebs map and all that.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 27th!!

Step away from the Krebs!!! I PROMISE that this is a flat ride!

Starting point is from the parking lot outside of Jack in the Box.

    Address:
    211 Reservation Road
    Marina, California

For the mapquesters, this is the corner of Reservation Road and Del Monte Boulevard.

We will ride along the bike path about 12 miles to Lover's Point in Monterey. Then about 3.5 miles along Asilomar Beach to 17-mile Drive. Then we stay on the 17-mile drive to the Pebble Beach Lodge. 1-way is about 23 miles.

Oh Trek! What a bummer! I was hoping to finally meet you. Can't you possibly play hooky???

Good luck getting Trek to play hooky! We tried once before, but she's just 4,359 straight days of unmissed work away from winning the Perfect Attendance prize! (Why she wants that $10 OfficeMax gift certificate and the foot-wide rubberband ball from the mail room enough to skip a ride escapes me! )

$10 from Office Max doesn't sound too appealing, but the rubber band ball sounds kinda cool.

Are you coming for sure, BikerZ?

If anyone from my neck of the woods is going down and wants a ride, I can fit one more rider and one more bike in my car.

I am definitely going! Travel plans are up in the air - I may stay with some friends in Santa Cruz the night before, and might be bringing a buddy with me to ride - but I'll be there for sure one way or another!

(And yes, the rubber band ball woud be cool - we have one in our office that gets to be about 4 or 5 inches, then someone's kid swipes it and we start again!)

Just found out that BikerZ doesn't know what a Krebs map is. So hide 'em now!! She's doing fine with the hill anxiety without seeing one. Slinke, put it away now!

Ha ha, very funny!! Are you coming to this one, SK? If you wanted, you could drive down the night before and bunk at our place and we could go down together in the morning.

Did you guys end up doing Monitor today?

Thanks, slinke! That's so nice. My whole schedule for the next few weeks is completely up in the air plus Bubba is gone the first week of Sept and I'll be in Phoenix earlier the same week. I'm even going to be at the Siskiyou Century when he gets home from his trip. Everything is going to be last minute decisions until mid-Sept. So, for right now I'm only pencilling stuff into my calendar.

We didn't ride Monitor today because Steph and yellow had upexpected stuff they had to do. Besides, the wheels on my hill climbing bike are going off to Ritchey tomorrow for a retrofit. We might do something next Friday. I'm pushing for a mtb ride up by Truckee.

Speaking of the Siskiyou, you and Kim decided what you're going to do. You coming?

What is "the plan"? If we do go, do we sleep out under a tree somewhere since all the rooms are booked? I would like to go. (So sorry for this slight thread detour, AG. And if I'm feeling energetic, I'll be tagging along on the 27th.)

Turns out to be a no-can-do on the Siskiyou. My 5 year old has his first ever soccer game that day. That's a can't miss!!

I was going to ride 30 miles today and it turned into a 12 miler instead. My chain got kinked (again!) in between my granny gear and my bottom bracket. Thank God I was in a spot where I got a cell signal because it was pretty early and there was nary a soul around to help me yank it out. I just wasn't able to do it myself. Blaine came and got me untangled and I just rode home rather than have a repeat performance and be stuck. Blaine is going to spend some time adjusting my front derailleur tomorrow.

THere's always next Saturday, I guess.

    We're in !

Thought we might have family obligations next weekend so I stayed mum until I knew for sure and, ta-da, we're off the hook! So Lee & I will be there.

So will we be starting at 10, or is that still up in the air?

We decided it would be fun to stay over on Saturday night, so I booked us a hotel room about a half-mile from the start - if anyone wants to freshen up after the ride, stop on by - no worries, we're an old married couple, you won't be imposing !!

(PS - is the ride still on?)
