Oh, too cool! You're doing the Nike Half? That's supposed to be a wonderful race! I tried to get in to it, but didn't make it, and after the LiveStrong challenge, my fund raising is tapped out for the year so did not want to do the TNT. I'm doing a couple centuries instead.

My achilles tendons bother me, too. Make sure you stretch your calves very well! That really helped me, as did taking one of those roller sticks and having my DH massage them. Also, if you wear heels a lot, try to start wearing flatter shoes - if you wear heels a lot your achilles doesn't get stretched like it should. Switching to flats helps. One more thing helps me - when I run, I make sure I do the full roll from heel to toe. I messed my tendon up by trying Chi Running which did not work for me - it suggests a midfoot strike. As soon as I went back to rolling through and making sure I did the full roll, I was much better.
