    Yay!!! Congratulations!!!!

Would love to see pictures (once you're back, and she's all set up). Surlys are awesome bikes - pretty much bullet-proof.

thanks! MAN! This was a ridiculously difficult decision for me... I think I'm maybe not all that good with decision making, but I felt like I had to go for it because prices are going up so much for the 2009's. (any old excuse, right?)

Good for you!! I'm a sucker for a good touring bike--I've been known to fondle the LHT when I'm in the bike shop. Enjoy your new purchase!

    Ginny,
Congratulations on the new bike. Many safe and happy miles to both you and the bike. My son got a call from the bike shop that his LHTcame in today. He got the olive green one (I tried to talk him into the blue). He's setting up an appointment with the shop to be there while they are setting it up for him. Although he just turned 30 this is his first real bike shop bike. I can't wait to have a new biking partner.

Sorry but I'm relatively new to biking--just started in April--and don't know all the brand names yet.

Sooo...when I first saw that you had bought a "surly long haul trucker" I got a mental image of my husband all cranky, unshaven, hungry, and tired when he was doing long-haul trucking! And I had to wonder, now why buy something like that??

NOT MY DH but gives you an idea of the first thing I thought of!

Squirrell, I'm right there with you in thinking it was something else. I thought it was going to be an attachable cart for hauling things behind the bike.

I like your misconception better. I grew up around a trucker dad and uncles and boy can they be surly and entertaining.

Congrats on the new bike, ginny.

Trucker hats off to your new surly!

Thanks everyone... I know what you mean about the surly mental image. These bikes originally struck me as so totally BOY... but alas, they are just great bikes. I rode a couple of sizes on the cross check, but decided mainly on the LHT because.... well, it was available in 2008 still. I have heard nothing but good things about these bikes and I'm super stoked. Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I'll post a review when I get it (but I won't go on a proper tour on it until spring).
