Someone will likely reply this is cruel to think of the driver and let the legal system and karma work it's course and this is not nice to say and we don't talk like this here and Trek, whata surprise I thought you are so nice but .... sometimes karma takes too long and it only takes 60 lbs of pressure to break a kneecap, any one of us can generate 600 lbs easy with a kick. I can show you how. And then she can see how it feels, but most likely the moron does not move at all or use her knee, wouldn't miss it.

Why do things like this happen to fit/good people?

Across from me is a nice little condo, really the best remodel in the complex (till mine is done). A few days ago the agent was showing the unit to a couple, opens the door to leave and right there in front of her are two ^%$& teenaged twits (maybe your bully, V?) graffiti'ing her "for sale" sign. Looking right at her. Don't even have the b@lls to say they are sorry, the knowledge they are doing something wrong to skeedadle .... just finish their "art" and leave.

I have volunteered if she wants a camera in my window facing the unit ... let me know.

Lastly some good news cross posted from the ALC board. A rider there posted that her Dads bike had been stolen in LA. They did what we all do, sent pictures and a flier to allllllll the local bike shops. Well guess what? She got a call from The Bike Doctor, a small shop "we have your bike" and .... the shop secretly arranged for the cops to be there when the thief came to pick up "his" bike.

So I have to ask, did you at least get your things back? I know it doesn't take away from the paranoid feeling and the feeling of violation. I just wondered if you at least got the things back that they found.

I don't buy things off of ebay just for that very reason, and because I would be the one to get ripped off and get a piece of junk or something stolen.

I have always believed that if it sounds to good to be true, then it's really to good to be true.

I feel like you do as far as no one having any morals or sense of honesty anymore. Shoot, I have given back 20 dollars to the bank when the atm gave me to much, and let them know that it was giving out to much so they could shut it down before they lost anymore. I always let the cashiers know when they give me to much money back and it has happened on occasion. I let the waiters know when they don't charge me for something on the restuarant bill.
People look at me like I am crazy, but I wouldn't be able to fight of my conscience if I didn't say something, it would just eat me alive.

I hope they are able to charge them with something and I hope you at least had your items that they recovered returned to you.
It will take you a while to feel safe again, just give it some time.

Being one who takes them to jail, it is VERY frustrating to see prosecutor's who do not prosecute when it seems so obvious to us. I know they are over loaded too. Or, suspects just get out the next day when they lie that they cannot miss work (like any of them work!)

Here in Washington we have to prove the suspects knew the stuff was stolen to charge them with possession of stolen property. Rarely do the thugs who have it are the same ones who stole it. Everything gets traded for drugs, dealers many times "order" goods and people go steal what has been ordered. No one buys drugs with cash anymore, that was so last semester...

Holy crap! The sad thing is most of these are probably stolen, but the victim didn't have the serial number otherwise it would have been ran when it was found and the owner contacted. People steal them and ride to their destination and then ditch them.

Hmmmm.... I guess I should double check and make sure I have my serial number just in case mine disappears!

Interesting. About a year ago, I saw a kid with his dad walking out of the bike shop with what looked like my stolen bike. It was an older bike and the kid looked so happy, I didn't say anything. I doubt they were the one's who actually stole it, but I suppose one could ask for the original receipt or box when buying stuff off craigslist. Fortunately, I had the original receipt and my insurance had covered the loss.

Maybe you don't confront the kid, but sure as heck I'd ask the cops to question the LBS I think it's great that some LBS carry used bikes. They must be careful where that bike is from. Around here those I'm aware of will not buy/sell/trade a used bike without the receipt or it being a trade in from them.
