Good job! Congratulations on getting back to it.

Yea, when I stop running on my long runs... it's like the pain just settles into my body and it hurts. Once I hit my time/distance... I start to walk casually... and I can barely walk anymore. It's like my body goes into shut down mode once it's allowed to stop moving forward.

This is why I know at my IM, I CANNOT stop moving forward. If I stop and rest... I might not get moving again.

K, I agree, it is less painful to just keep moving. I just started reading UltraMarathon Man...and last night Dean just finished his frst 100 mile race, the Western States....he talks about coming into the transitions, and sitting down and hanging out...and then having a terrible, terrible time getting started again.

He also described what they eat on the run...blech, belch, barf....pizza, while running...amazing folks...you long, long distance people....

Yea, I feel the same way when it comes to riding. There comes a point where my thighs/quads start to burn and when I stop riding it just hurts even more. It hurts less to pedal at that point.

I'm not sure how they eat pizza AND run. No way. Not me!

Got in my 10k yesterday on the trail.. and at decent pace and level pace (about 9:30 to 9:50/mile average). Felt fast and not in a good way, but it didn't truly HURT I guess! Just a little bouncier or rougher than usual... (does that even make sense?!). Anyway -- my tri has the 10k at the end, so I've done it a couple times now so I know I can struggle through.

I'm pretty sure if there's pizza involved, I could find a way! I'm truly warped when it comes to pizza. Anywhere, anytime, baby!

I ran hills on tuesday and it was one of those "can I make it up this hill without feeling like I'm going to fall over?" days. I'm always happy when I'm done though

Yesterday it was raining as I drove home from work. DH said it wasn't raining at home but I could tell the rain was moving north. By the time I got on my running clothes, it was raining. I headed out for a 2.5 mile run and by the time I was 1/4 mile into it, it was snowing big huge WET snowflakes! I finished though I had to keep slowing to clear my eyes. I had THE ice cream headache from heck, my muscles hurt from the cold, and I was glad to get home and change. I'm glad I did it...I figured it was a test of mental fortitude.

Speakin' of, Friday is my long day. There is a 90% chance of rain that day. Do I run in the rain? Do I run 13 miles on a treadmill? Neither sounds pleasant...I think I will toss a coin

And pizza...mmmmm. I'll do most anything for pizza I'm one of those freaks who could eat it at any time of the day or at any part during a workout.

I finally did a full 5km yesterday. MY shins were sore from the MT the day before but I went anyway. I am up to 5 min run and 1 min walk now. Wish I could just skip the rest of the walk/run phase and go to straight running....

Ran 5 miles in 51 minutes on the treadmill tonight.

Bottom of my feet hurt. Very odd pain.

    I got it done though.
