I need some new shorts and thought I'd try to get in on some winter sales. I have one pair of Trek shorts and one pair of Bellwether. Both are fine, got them on sale, nuttin' special. I like the waistband to fall a bit below the belly button. Curious if any of you have favorites.

The Sugoi RS. The only place I've seen them on sale, however, is Campmor.com. If you like a lower rise, you might try the Craft Master Short.

I've never been crazy about compression-type shorts (with or without chamois), so instead I wear the Double B Knee-Length capri by Athleta. Smooth, close-fitting, but not tight. Lands a few inches above my knee. I think they offer a shorter version.....

Unfortunately, the Double B's never seem to go on sale!!![]()

Terry Bella shorts have a super comfortable, low-ish waistband (no elastic in the front), and a comfortable chamois too. I also really like the chamois on the Shebeest SSS short, although I'm not crazy about the fabric (there are definitely others that are lighter and more wicking for hot weather).
It's funny, I definitely like my PANTS to be low rise, and I prefer low rise running shorts, but for some reason I prefer higher-waisted bike shorts. Castellis are nice in this respect -- the waistband actually hits at my waist. I guess there's something that just looks wrong about exposed belly between a bike jersey and shorts, and so many women's jerseys run short in the torso...
