I think LLBean has some "classic" fit pants that have less wide legs. I've not tried biking in them (they're 100% cotton long pants - not good for biking), but that style would work.

    How 'bout this: http://www.titlenine.com/shopping/pr...ProductID=2461

Not on TE, but looks like the sort of thing I was thinking of...

That is a cute pant. It may work.

I'm a "knees in" rider, so any extra material is apt to catch on the rings. I probably need to go try some on at some point. I may even look at making or modifying some.

Hi....Take a look at Hind, SportHill and REI---all three have "tights" that are about half way between a tight and a pant. Lisa's idea about ski shops is a great one---I've seen some things online that look like they'd fill the bill...........I have a couple of pairs of the LLBean "perfect fit" narrow leg cotton pants in black. (Got them on eBay for a ridiculously cheap price--$4 or $5--a few months ago.) Those work just fine for short commutes where you want to hop off the bike and look not-too-sporty at your destination. But they wouldn't be my first choice for a long ride.

I'm quite fond of my Rivendell biking pants. I have the butternut color, but now they have grey... and I want grey!

Mine don't look quite like this picture (no green crotch gusset, it's butternut) but here's what's on their website right now: http://www.rivbike.com/products/list...product=22-433

Here is one thing I have discovered: Tapered leg sport pants are not in style, so go to Goodwill and Salvation Army. I have found tons of Nike, Adidas, Reebock pants with the zip legs and elastic legs and I just wear shorts under them.

I also have a pair of Hind Munich Pants. They also have a tapered leg and are possibly the most comfortable pants I have ever had. They are also warm.

I figure I'll have to hit up Goodwill.

Knotted, I like those Riv pants. But the legs still look like they would catch on the rings.

They have a velcro strap so you can snug them up.

When you get to work (or whatever) you undo the strap if you want and suddenly you have regular pants.

Mine haven't got caught in my drive train yet.

I have a pair of the Hind Munich tights, too. They are nice for running, but I've not ridden in them on my bike yet.
