    Slow and Steady...

wins the race! I've been working out with a trainer and trying to watch what I eat in the past few months.

So! I though I'd toot my own horn in saying that I've lost almost 10lbs since August and I'm so proud of myself. I'm trying to take the weight off slow since that usually yields better results (as in not gaining it back as fast, etc).

Ok...I knew y'all would appreciate the amount of work that goes into that and thought I'd share.

    Thanks for listening!

    Thumbs up Congrats!

Way to go Mountainchick! It is far better to lose the weight slowly and change the habits that brought on the pounds. You are starting off on the right foot to permanently keeping it off.

I'm right there with you on the slow approach, having lost almost 60 pounds in 5 years. Cycling was the best cardio exercise I found to combine with diet changes until I got enough weight off to where running was an option for me. Course I fell in love with cycling but running is sometimes more practical for my schedule. Now I do a little of both plus a boot camp style workout twice a week. Cardio burns the cals, boot camp builds the muscles, and watching the diet (most of the time anyways!) keeps the rest in check.

Good luck to you on your fitness journey! Congrats on your success to date.

Congradulations Mtnchick! Glad you were able to change your habits - all this thinking back to my inability to resist temptation and munch out on some cookies that someone brought to the office. Thinking I'll ride tomorrow Well, it's tomorrow, and there's a stiff north wind blowing.

Say Mountainchick, how did you find your trainer anyway? There are days I think I could improve if I could just find someone to actually work with me, correcting or improving my technique.

You know, I still eat cookies. Yes, I try and watch what I eat but I'm realistic. Last night I had a small cup of soup and 2 instant Betty Crocker desserts. This morning I had a white choco mocha and a choco chip muffin for bfast. I can't deprive myself. It's taking longer, but I'm not willing to sacrifice everything!

I actually use a trainer through the MWR program on our military base. The good news is they're only $25 an hour. I'm actually going to take the course in January so I can start helping other people.

*Update though! I did a 5k this morning and shaved 7 minutes off my time from 2 weeks ago. YAY!
