Hooray for El Dorado County! I just posted a reply to your post in New Riders. We're practically neighbors! I haven't ridden In Rescue/El Do Hills yet, but I highly recommend the Apple Hill area for some scenic (but challenging) rides. Unfortunately, now that the Apple Hill season has officially begun, weekends are shot. You'd have to ride super early in the morning to avoid the traffic. Otherwise you'll get killed (I'm not exaggerating). A fews months ago, I did a ride off of Greenstone...we went out South Shingle and came back on French Camp. That was fun but I wouldn't do it alone. And Iron Mountain Rd. (aka Mormor Immigrant) is great too, but once again, you need a riding buddy.
Sounds to me like you and me and michelem need to get together for a ride!

Fast-forward 4 months later and riding the entire ARP loop is nothing. I'm still not that great of a rider compared to others, but I really enjoy seeing my own improvement. I'm not out to compete against anyone but myself!

Anyway, I'm not sure if these will be continuing into the fall since it's getting dark earlier, but Bob at the bike shop (he's the owner) is an awesome guy and he really looks out for new riders. I would highly recommend his shop for repairs or anything else. I've been extremely happy with the service. Here's a link to the Wednesday night rides calendar (looks like they haven't updated it recently):
