And the summer went so well--no falls, no big issues. Went for a short ride on the local bike path along the Carrabassett River (cyclocross bike) and found a lot of damage from the recent storms and wind. There were a lot of branches down and some major washouts along our usually super trail. Some branches I stopped and moved out of the way, but in one case I started to ride out around a fallen tree but the edge of the trail was soft and had wet wet leaves. Soooo I sunk, slipped and crashed down on butt and elbow. Much skin loss and blood (but it looked worse than it was)! Twisted the whole shifter assembly about 3 inches toward the wheel. But the worst part was my pride!! As far as clipping out, I was down before that could have even popped into my brain!
Got to keep going though--my goal is to ride at least a little on the roads every month til March, for a full 12 month ride record! January will surely be a challenge up here in the snowy mountains of Maine.
