    Ouch!

Yup - racing is pricey in the US. I just checked, and to date, I have spent:
    • $390 race registration
    • $60 racing license
    • $70 club membership and TT registration
    • $10 for a racing clinic

Note that none of this includes any components/maintenance to bikes, gas to and from venues, etc. I also didn't include the cost of my club kit, which with shorts, jerseys, skinsuits, etc is somewhere around $350...

I also still have a full month and a half of race registrations to come, including Nationals, which will run $74.

Thanks - I REALLY didn't need this breakdown.....

    Not this year maybe next

Won't be able to swing a trip out east this year But who knows maybe next year.

I'm in the 45-50 age group - so maybe we could make it a TE Sweep!

Don't get me started. I race road, mtn, and cross and I I've done almost 40 races at this point (with an average entry fee of $30). That's a lotta cash. Oh, and I have 4 USAC licenses -- road racing, mtn bike racing, coaching, and officiating. Sheesh! Luckily, Velo Girls has a very generous reimbursement program paid for by sponsorship.

At least we don't race tri, right? The entry fee for some tri's is $150-$200 dollars, not to mention all the geeky equipment.

    No worries!

And Velogirl - like you, I race road and 'cross, so the fees add up over the season (although I haven't raced my MTB in years). I usually don't pay much attention, actually - I figure it's the college education fund I don't have to spring for . Plus, I'm paying my way to a healthy retirement!

And Mimosa - if it weren't so much fun, I wouldn't be doing it!

SheFly (off to spend another $80 for Natz registration...)
