He's got a film crew with him making a documentary of his ride. Of course they may not be there all the time. Anyway -- how cool to end up part of that, as well!

Wow! It took me forever to find this thread. Dom spent the night at my house last night and I was trying to find it for him but I couldn't.

I rode with him today on his tandem. We rode his tandem from San Mateo to Moss Beach, picked up my road bike (which I'd conveniently left with a friend on Sunday) and then continued on to San Gregorio. We hung at the SG Store for a bit and I returned home (worried about losing my daylight) and he continued south. I had originally hoped to ride with him for a few days but my schedule is just too busy lately. As an aside, I was freezing my butt off descending 84 and got home just at 5:30 (dark) after logging almost 80 miles today.

Dom's a charmer and an interesting young man. Surprisingly, he hasn't been able to find folks to ride with him very often, so if you know folks in Southern California or Mexico or Central or South America, have them contact him. I'm seriously considering joining him for a week or two later in his journey.

The tandem ride with great! We actually rode really well together. I've only tandemed one other time and it was a nightmare. I set up the bike to my geometry with my pedals and saddle and felt pretty good, but the bar was a bit odd and my hands were achy. Oh well. But 200 pounds of bike -- oh my! And he's been riding that by himself for about half his journey so far. He's got biceps and triceps to die for (and washboard abs, I would imagine).

He doesn't have a film crew with him. Rather, he's been photographing and video-taping interviews himself -- many of them on the bike. At one point, he had me video-taping him and then myself while we rode (good thing I could ride no handed). I felt a little dorky but what the heck.

And, yes, Pooks, he's a hottie.

My wanderlust has crept it's ugly head back up......

    Ooh...

    Lucky you.

I have emailed a friend who's from Ecuador and still has family and friends there. That's pretty far out on his route but who knows...

Sounds like a great journey, I hope you make it.

The BikeForum SoCal forum is well populated with cyclists from Orange County to San Diego, there might be a bigger pool or riders willing to help out.

Brandy, Caligurl... you gals are pretty active there... can help be found?
