I went to a training seminar with my bike guru. Lactate test, swim video, etc, etc, and finally a running session.

He suggested we do a sort of shuffle - do not lift your feet and don't bounce. All energy into a forward motion.

It felt weird, was difficult to absorb but it makes sense. Also, neither do my calves work so hard pushing off, nor do I strike as hard with my heel stressing the t.anterior.
