    Bike clothes suitable for work

Interesting article from the Wall Street Journal about bike clothing suitable for work. Not sure I would wear any of this stuff but food for thought.

Office-Friendly Bike Clothing: Don't Sweat the Commute
Dress up for your bicycle commute with this water-resistant, stretchy and stylish clothing.

    By NANCY KEATES

Give your bike clothing an office-friendly makeover.
WHO SAYS YOU can't wear a suit on a bike? Especially a suit made from wind- and water-resistant fabric with reflective pant cuffs.

As the weather gets cooler, riding a bike to the office in work clothing is more feasible than it was in the sweltering summer heat. Velocipedists who'd rather not shower or change after hopping off their bikes have a closetful of "cycling formal wear" options—clothing that looks office-friendly, yet is comfortable to ride in: not too tight, vented to minimize sweating, and rain- and wind-resistant. Most important, the fabrics are stretchy enough to allow a full-range of movement, but aren't so shiny that they look cheesy.

One skirt and dress recommendation. Hrmph.

I do like the fact that they linked to the whole catalog (I'd never heard of these companies before), but seriously, women's "city" bike clothing seems like pretty slim pickings these days compared to the Levi's and Raphas and Urban Outfitters of the men's genre.

Unfortunately my computer isn't cooperating, so can't see catalog or the sample women's cycling to work dress.

In seeing some business clothing for cycling commuters in other publications (and on rare occasion, in LBS's), I have to say that some of the stuff isn't cheap...which really given the higher price tag, existing cyclists would be the market not nearly new cyclists/wannabes.

Yes, the designers can only manufacture a limited run of their choices for a niche market (at this time).

I find this statement hilarious...... "Head protection intended for racers can be a bit too flashy for the corporate parking lot" I'd make a bet that driving to work in a Ferrari would never be considered too flashy....
