    Shaula,
I have done that tri several timesand it is a GREAT one for first timers. It is quite large, though, so prepare yourself. The event is very well organized with a great bunch of volunteers.

I try to participate in all of the Callaway Fitness Series events. It is a wonderful place to race.

Where are you at in SE Georgia?

I did the olympic one last september, and it was not beautifully organzied. The area was great to race in, but there were people in and out of transition (where the bikes are while you are swimming/running) who were not a part of the race It was not huge though, so I imagine it was a different kind of race than the sprint. I didn't mind the organization too much while I was racing, but DH was not super pleased as he watched everything cheering. I loved being in the gardens though, because it is beautiful!

I haven't done the oly yet, but had planned on it this year. I am surprised that it wasn't well organized - but who knows, they may have been short volunteers for some reason or something. Every event I have done there has been well done.

I live in Waverly Hall, GA, about 30 minutes from Callaway. I love to run there this time of year when the azaleas are blooming.

This will be my first time doing a mini sprint tri. I normally cycle charity rides but hubby and I decided to do this. What about the swim? Is the water clear?

The water hasn't been clear for me EVER! But I am the second to last wave, so by then everything has been churned and re-churned! It is shallow for the most part and a pretty easy swim. I lost my goggles last year within 1 minute of starting and did just fine.

This is a FUN sprint! No worries!

Did you and your hubby happen to do Wheels of Fire last weekend? Or the SPAR ride?

No - I've never heard of them. What is the SPAR? We are going to Athens the weekend of the 24-26 Apr to do the Gambler ride which is a part of the Twilight criterium that is so popular in Athens. Have you ever done the BRAG?

    my sisters did...

My sisters did this a few years back and were really pissed about the way the whole thing was set up. Both sisters are champion swimmers but had to start BEHIND the senior men's group. It really slowed them down having to swim behind men three times their age and they still finished with the youngest men's group in front. When one of them complained about the women being put behind the oldest men's group, they were completely blown off. Boooooo!!!!

Callaway Gardens, I have to say though, is a beautiful place. I'm training for the Wheels o' Fire century next March.
