What are the best tri shorts to prevent sausage thighs?

    Capris.

Otherwise, I'd go for relatively long inseam shorts. (I have a pair of Sugoi tri shorts that I like, but I like my plain ol' UnderArmour compression shorts the best) (neither has leg grippers)

Well, I say tri shorts WITHOUT a leg gripper that digs into your thigh.

    I use Desoto tri shorts.

I hate those leg gripper things. Fine around my ankles, NOT fine around my thighs.

I've only had thigh grippers because my thighs rub together and cause everything else to make a bunched up beeline for the crotch. Do the shorts without the leg grippers ride up? I have massive (albeit mostly muscular thighs) and have trouble with running shorts, regular shorts, etc staying in place.

pssst: ladies with skinny thighs that don't touch aren't allowed to answer this question, because I know their answer is no (I used to be a skinny thighed woman).

LOL I use to be one of those skinny-thigh chics but somewhere in college that changed. Most of the shorts I own (even non-cycling ones) always seem to ride up on me. I have two pairs of cycling shorts from Performance that don't have the grippers and they don't ride up on me but they are probably on the longer side. I think as long as there's no room for them to move they won't ride up.

The tightest part of shorts legs is the bottom edges, where the elastic is. Elastic seeks the place of least resistance.
Most of our thighs are thickest and hardest muscle in the middle section of them, getting smaller circumference again towards the knee and towards the crotch.
If you wear shorts that end BELOW where your widest thigh part is, they will not ride up to the wider harder thigh muscle area. If the shorts end at the thickest hardest part of your thigh, the elastic will be tight and seek a smaller or softer circumf.- your crotch area.
So, if you have trouble with shorts riding up your leg to your crotch, try longer shorts. Needless to say, capris will NOT ride up into your crotch!
Terry makes longer shorts that I really like- they land about 3" above my knees and they stay put. They also are not TIGHT at the legband.

Try the Terry T-shorts made out of Dryline material. It's supportive but stretchy, so it doesn't squeeze you as badly as some of the others. They also come in a longer length. I would avoid their Bella short as the material doesn't stretch much so you really do feel like a sausage if you have substantial thighs (like me ).

If you're looking for tri shorts, the Zoot endurance shorts are good, but avoid their Ultras which don't stretch at all.
