    Shoe Covers

Its getting cold here, and I lost my old castelli shoe warmers. I am looking to replace them. I ride in sidi dominators (mountain shoes) even on the road, so thought it may be better to get mountain specific ones this time around.

What do you guys think of these: http://www.teamestrogen.com/prodGB_FCITYF.html

They are attractive to me since they are also waterproof if I am touring and its raining, but will they be as warm as the neoprene kind. Any good recommendations that work good with mountain shoes?

These are the best thing I ever found: http://www.teamestrogen.com/prodSU_95050U.html Sugoi resistor booties. I wear the same shoes you do. I hate neoprene because it gets so soaking wet. I LOVE these. They'll help keep your feet warm even when it's not raining--and I am one whose toes get cold easily. My husband, who is even as we speak doing his January 200k in really repellent conditions (40s, steady rain, windy) is wearing Sugoi Resistors. They are wonderful.

Thanks Salsabike! Order placed. I road yesterday, and even though it wasn't super cold, there was a cold dampness in the air that froze me to the bone, toes included!

I hope they are warm enough, I wanted something more for warmth than water resistance, but it seems being waterproof is definitely a bonus, especially when touring since there is nothing worse than getting caught in a chilly rain!

I've tried booties, boots, wool socks, etc... nothing works better then toe warmers:

You can usually find them on sale for less then a $1 a pair, best money spent for cold weather rides.

It looks a lot like my overshoes. I got mine last year but they are discontinued. My climate is similar to yours, a little colder (Missouri). I really like them.

I found it difficult to know what size to get. I went by the sizing chart--I wear 9 1/2, so I got the size that was in that range. It did not fit over my shoes at all. I'm not sure if the sizing chart is supposed to indicate that Medium fits OVER shoes with that size range, or that it Medium is the SAME size as shoes in that range--if the latter you'd have to get a larger overshoe of course.

Even Large is a stretch to fit over my shoes.

So it took a couple tries, and this is where buying online isn't so great, because you have to send stuff back if it doesn't fit, but eventually I got the right size.

The sugoi booties arrived today, and they did match the sizing chart perfectly. I wear a women's 9 shoe, sidi dominator womens 42. According to the sizing chart I was a small, so that is what I ordered. Then later I saw I was supposed to size up for mountain shoes, but they arived today and fit perfectly. They also wrap very nicely under the dominator, something that not all booties do that are usually designed for road shoes. I wouldn't really call them 'overshoes', they are just a thin waterproof exterior, fleece interior, shoe cover.

I tried some PI booties on in the LBS, and they were very hard to get over my mountain shoe, but these slip on easily, yet stay nicely in place (without exposed bits to get worn by walking). I found in the LBS that while larger PI booties slipped on more easily, they gapped in the back since they were too long, so I am glad I ordered the resistor in the small.

    Thanks for everyones help!
