    Favorite iPhone apps?

Anyone else obsessed with the iPhone? I swear I would never care enough to upgrade the old flip phone, but discovered that the iPhone didn't cost much more and simplified my life. I love the GPS and it even has a few free bike computer apps. Please share your love and app recommendations.

SHAZAM - SHAZAM - did I say SHAZAM?
    Grocery iQ - shopping list
    iEmoji - emoticons
    Facebook
Skype - never used it until the kids when to Europe this week
    Wind Meter
    vLingo - seems cool...but I haven't used it yet.
SnapTell and pic2shop are really cool too, but I only use it for novelties...to some they could be a useful tool
Scrabble - but I need to put it on easy or it comes up with VERY obscure words.

    Oh... I'm so jealous!
I really need Verizon for the coverage where I live. I WISH Verizon would get IPhones! The rest of my life is Mac based, why can't my phone be?!

    Next year for Verizon.

To be fair, on basic functionality, there are a lot of strong competitors to the iPhone...but the apps are what seem to make the difference.

I'm not obsessed with my iphone, but I do enjoy some of the apps. 100 Pushups is one I use alot, and Public Radio Tuner for when I'm traveling. Shazam is neat, but I haven't used it much. There's an app that figures out mileage on the car, and that's useful (or not, depending on how you see things). It's called Road Trip lite.

Share-A-Bill is great for my travels with my honey.

Any bike-related apps for the iphone? I'd like a mileage tracker, but I haven't searched for one yet.

I had Verizon, and I wish I still did! But my company went with the iphone, and so, then, did I. ATT coverage is not nearly as good as Verizon.

    re: vlingo

Have you read their privacy policy ? Apparently they have authority to share your contacts with their "contractors" , and "sub-contractors". I Read the application reviews posted on iTunes and it scared me away.

mobile.southwest.com is a bookmark on my homescreen, great for checkin if a printer is not convenient

A new one my friend just submitted to the iTunes store midi player - for musicians, it looks really cool

Good point...but then, how else would they use the internet, applying voice recognition software, to identify and dial a contact saved in my phone - without sharing it with someone?

IMHO, the safety consideration outweighs the theoretically potential abuse of my contact list...

    Smile iPod touch apps

I will not consider an iPhone right now because it forces us to be locked into a phone plan that is too expensive, and too binding. No real choices. When those conditions change, I might look into it. So, for now, I'm using an iPod Touch - just like I would use an iPhone - but without the costs of a phone plan.
Using Skype over the net to talk on the phone, local or long distance, to other Skype users or land lines or cell phones.
Given that I run the iPod Touch over the net, utilities to locate wifi network are essential to me. And I have been using WifiTrak and am very happy with it.
Also using an app to monitor the battery : BatteryCharge. Which not only tells you how much juice you have left, but how much time it will take to charge. And what you can do with the charge that is left (translated in hours of surfing, listening to music, etc.)

Other then that, apps that enable me to keep in touch with home when I am away, the apps that enable me to listen to radio stations over the net : Radio-Canada and CBC apps.

I just found out that the REI app does not run on the iPod Touch, only on the iPhone. That's a bummer. :-( I would have looooooved those features about carbon footprint.

I adore my iphone (my work provides it and the service). I will be even more delighted, however, when I can use it with Verizon since ATT doesn't have coverage in some of the areas where spend time. That stinks because I am very mobile in my work and do not work in a typical office, although my home is my main base.

My new favorite app is called EasyTask and it's based on Getting Things Done, a book by David Allen. I have about 20 active projects at work and a very active life, too, and sometimes it's hard to keep things straight. It's really helped me keep everything on track, both personal and work.

Oh, how could I forget my other favourites? Sit Or Squat, a public toilet locator, Toilet Mate (same again, but Australia-specific), and the National Government Public Toilet map (Australia-specific). Are you sensing a theme here? Between the three of them, I can be reasonably sure I will find something local (none of them has every public toilet listed).

Finally, I have also installed Go Brisbane, which is a public transport timetable app. I can tell it my favourites - ie my usual start and destination points - and at the click of a button I can see the relevant timetable for the current time of day. I can also browse the timetables to see schedules days in advance. It's very cool.

    Thumbs up Dragon Dictation

My new favorite iphone application is Dragon Dictation. Press a button and speak. It converts to text that you can then send to an email, a text message or the clipboard. It won't work for an itouch unless you have an external microphone.

    Pretty handy!
