I bought a Kurt Kinetic Road Machine this spring. It was more than I wanted to spend actually, but it came with high recommendations from everyone (the shop I bought it from steered me towards it and away from an equally pricey Blackburn).

I am very happy with it. Stable and very, very smooth.

(The MSRP on the website is $369, but I ended up paying about $300 including tax).

When I got my trainer, I didn't have a road bike yet, only a mountain bike. Not wanting to have to buy new tires, I went with the rim-drive Minoura 850. That way I can put any bike on there with whatever tires are on them and pedal away. I also wasn't looking to spend much, since I was just trying to get into riding at that point. I've been happy with it. I'd actually like to get the cable that will allow me to change the resistance on it while I'm riding.

I second that. Replaced a basic REI version with the Fluid Cyclops II...and I am finally loving the trainer! Much better resistance from this one.
