New Member of the running family!

Ahh yes, we have a new furry member. Running doggy, aka "Jack".

He's the sweetest little scottish terrior mix. We rescued him from a shelter (is there any other way??) this afternoon, and he's already fitting in just fine.
He's such a cool little dog. He's hyper when running son wants to play, and mellow when we are chilling on the couch. He's also VERY good on a leash and LOVES to walk. I think I may even be able to take him on some short runs.
He was a stray, seems to be about a year old, but is still very much a puppy. Obedience is in order that's for sure. And.... sigh... potty training. I really wanted one that was already potty trained, but sometimes it doesn't work out that way.
We looked at four different shelters yesterday, and we saw him at the second shelter we went to. He looked awfully scruffy, and I wasn't sure at first, but something about him caught our eye. We kept talking about him. I told RS that we needed to think about it overnight, and that if he was still there the next day then he was mean't for us.
This morning we went to one more shelter, and didn't see anything, so we went back. Sure enough he was there waiting for us. I knew he needed to go home with us when he went over to his bed and got a toy. He brought it to the edge of the kennel and pushed it under the gate. I grabbed it and slid it back under for him to fetch it, and he brought it right back and was trying to give it to us through the kennel door.

Ahh yes, he got my heart at that point.
So anyway, just wanted to pass on the joyful news. The house is alive once again with the pitter patter of doggy paws!
I'll post pics tomorrow. He's pretty scruffy from being in the shelter, so he has a "hair appt" at the local petsmart.
