Southern Pennsylvanians; Where do we fit in?

Silly question, but are we Northeast, or Mid-Atlantic? I'm having an identity crisis and don't know where to post. I'm right over the PA/MD line. Local riding territory is generally York County, Lancaster County, with many routes wandering over the line into Baltimore County, MD.

Hi there, Ritamarie. I grew up in VA, currently live in MD outside of DC, spend a lot of time in Baltimore, and make fairly frequent trips to Gettysburg, Philly, western MD/WV, and Fayette County, PA. To me, the mid-Atlantic U.S. encompasses pretty much everything from NJ to the bottom of VA, from the eastern shore through WV. Other folks define the area very differently, though, so you're likely to get a variety of answers to this question.

Got any good routes to share for B'more county or southern PA?

Thanks! Normally, I would answer to either "Northeast" or "MidAtlantic", so it's hard to decide where to post here.

Yes, I have routes in this area and like working out new ones! It would be great to find more women riding buddies. Most of our women-only rides are casual and chatty in the 14-16 mph average range, depending on the hillage (it's hilly around here!) and our motivation, with mileage per ride usually between 40-70 miles.

If you want route suggestions, or would like to get together to ride, let me know!

Yeah, I keep hearing about the hills up thataways, which is why I haven't done much riding up there yet I love the York Heritage rail-trail, though. Gorgeous scenery, despite the amount of dust the trail kicks up. Your mileage and speed are just a bit beyond me, but maybe I'll hit the roads up there one of these days.

I think I'd put your locale in the Mid-Atlantic area. I've done some riding up in Lancaster County area. Beautiful area. I'd love to go back. I also do the Civil War Century out of Thurmont MD, which goes up to Gettysburg. Yeah, lots of hills up there. Your group rides sound great! Most of my rides are with guys in the 17-19 mph (hence, my location under my avatar is "off the back!").

Kalidurga, If you want to ride up here, just let me know. Our women's group rides might be over the top for you (a bunch of mileage junkies we are) , but I can come up with a shorter route and a more casual pace!

7Rider, I ride with my husband and his friends a lot during the season, so I can relate. I have logged quite a few 19 and 20 mph rides with them. I love this kind of riding because it's where I gain strength, but after a few rides in a row like that, I am ready for a "girl's ride". Let us know if you'd like to join us! My husband and I and a few other friends re-rode the Civil War Century route last month on a beautiful day since we did it in the rain in September! My avatar pic is from our Civil War Century re-ride. I love that route... a good kind of hilly.

I grew up in northwestern Lancaster County, and have always considered that area part of the Mid-Atlantic.

This year, at the CWC, I opted to do the metric route with a friend of mine who wasn't able to handle the full. My DH and the crew from the LBS (if you saw a train of guys in black and red kits, that was them - we had about 25 at that ride) did the full. I get dropped on that first 8-mile climb on that route. My best hope is to sweep them up later, when they blow up for charging too hard at the start! I don't have their power, but generally, I have endurance.

I'd be up for some new routes. I couldn't do crack-of-dawn rides, but later rides (esp. in the winter, when it warms up some!), I could certainly find myself in PA or elsewhere.
