    Towson?

I'm going to be in Towson for a couple of days for work next month. Any suggestions for things to see or do to keep myself entertained in the evenings?

    Thanks!

    Never been there.

It's close enough to Baltimore, so I would head down there and check out the Inner Harbor and surrounding neighborhoods.

I forgot to mention.... I won't have a car so, unless I can get to public transit easily, no trips to the Inner Harbor

Um, not much. Towson is the county seat, so there's lots of courthouses! Fun! It also has a lot of suburban hell shopping--big sprawling mall. Some of the "downtown" shops/restaurants (about a two block stretch along York Road) are popular with the university students, and there's a movie theater in that stretch as well. If all you want to do is eat, shop, and watch movies, you'll be in good shape. The only thing of interest I can think of is a National Historic Site, Hampton Mansion, that is just north of the beltway in Towson. Probably not a great spot for nightlife. although if I remember my 4th grade field trip correctly, they DO have a ghost. Towson also has a nice farmer's market on Thursdays during the day (10 to 3, I think?). That runs through mid-November. Towson is mostly known for the university, the mall, and a bunch of hospitals. Come to that, there might be some interesting concerts or lectures in the evening at the university.

For public transportation, the #8 bus will take you down to Penn Station and from there you can pick up other buses or walk a couple of blocks to the Light Rail to get to the Inner Harbor area. The #11 bus will get you closer to the Light Rail stop, but it takes a more circuitous route to get there.
