    Spring time!

I cancelled my PT appointment and was secretly glad my last client cancelled. DH left early, too and we went on a 16 mile ride. One of my little after work type loops but this time I went the opposite direction on a road that I don't ride on very often. A bit sandy still, but nice. The temperature was 60 for the whole ride. The hills are still hurting a bit more than I like them to, but my speed is fine. Near the end of our ride, when I was feeling good on a flattish semi downhill incline, a guy passed us. He's a commuter that rides with his legs all flailing out; he's passed me before. Then, when he got in front of us, he slowed, or should I say sped up and then stopped pedaling every few minutes. DH said, "What's with that guy?" I told him some men just can't stand being behind a woman, so let him go. When we got to an intersection with a stop, we had to tell him to move a bit, so we had room to turn right. I think he was afraid we'd get in front of him.
    A good ride.

Such a delightful day - temps in the low 70s here! Quite strong wind gusts - over 30mph - so I sadly opted to go hiking instead. YESTERDAY, however, I did go for a ride. It wasn't as warm, but just delightful Tomorrow will be a little cooler, but much less windy so will ride tomorrow and hopefully Saturday.

I guess I am just a wind weenie, but I don't feel safe riding with wind gusts >25...and around here there isn't much to block it. It is the cross-winds that get me concerned. Headwinds are good for cardio, and a tailwind is awesome - but >30 mph crosswinds scare me

Catrin, you're not alone in disliking 30 mph winds. Brian and I were all set to ride until we realized how windy it is today. I don't mind riding in this when I'm in a group, but when it's just the two of us on the exposed country roads we have near us, I usually opt out. The loop I used to do from Butler was a good option when I lived in Indy because it was fairly sheltered, but that's not of an option now.

Instead we went on Box Elder Bug patrol when we got home. We have a bit of an infestation. I sure hope we get to ride tomorrow and Saturday!

That wind is coming here tomorrow. I hope to get out in the AM before it is supposed to get bad. I have to be in Cambridge at about 12:30, so I have a limited window of time, anyway.
I don't like really bad wind, either, but in the spring around here it's usually just steady 10-15 mph. The worst wind I ever experienced was on the only century I've ever done, which was along the seacoast.

So much for Hardy Hoosiers...I hoped/planned to ride and could not come up with a Northeast only route that would get me home...

Of course, I could have been in Canada in about an hour if I had ridden!

Cycled only for birdwatching today, so 18ish miles. Beautiful weather, but hard to dress for both cycling and birdwatching. Still, I'm not complaining.

I saw the monk parakeet flock I'm watching -- so glad they survived this hard winter.

Did the first after-work ride of the year now that DST is here. 16.5 miles in great conditions. Mid-60s, low humidity, no wind. Just a wonderful ride and felt strong, even on the hills, especially for March. Yay springtime!

did a beautiful 50 mile circuit today in spite of the 20 mph winds from the sw as I headed out west and then south, by the time I was on the return loop, which I had planned to give me a tailwind, had changed direction so that it was alternately a quartering headwind and a side wind. Saw the first wildflowers of the season, lots of blooming alfalfa and an occasional indian paintbrush. Bodes well for the upcoming charity ride Bluebonnet express on March 27. Since that is also Texas prairie, there will undoubtedly be winds.

Ah well, let us keep our fingers crossed for bluebonnets.

It's going to be 80F this afternoon and I am heading out for a ride!
Marni, this time last year, I was in Austin for 10 days of riding. It was wonderful.

Yup - awesome weather here yesterday, and took advantage with a SS hill ride after work. My legs are J-U-N-K today. I went with DH and the testosterone boys, so wasn't able to really recover between the hills either. Sometimes, a SS is a good idea - not necessarily last night!

Windy today, but nice temps again. Likely will get out later today.
