Howdy, since summer's coming soon to this part of the world & you're dealing with summer now, i thought someone might have an answer for me.

There's a short review about http://scapelabs.com/ sunblock on the BNA forum & noticed it's made in California so i thought i'd ask about it here.

    Have you used it?

The website doesn't list the ingredients, how do i find out that info???

    ?

Just googling... can't vouch for the accuracy -

This one quotes the founder and lead product developer to say it's strictly a chemical sunblock that contains avobenzone, oxybenzone, homosalate, octocrylene and paraben preservatives.

One of the commenters to this review gives a full ingredient list.

    bad?

Those ingredients don't sound so great for your body... Ok, i'm not a scientist but are Paraben preservatives as bad as Parabens?

Perhaps i should go on another sunblock hunt??

CC, have you seen this product?

I'm not advocating it because it's "organic" but because it's sunscreening ingredient is zinc oxide. I've read that zinc oxide is the only sunscreen (it's a barrier type sunscreen) approved for children under 6 mos.

    shop

Schnitzle..I swear i've seen that sunscreen down here but will have to look again. Perhaps it's from oogling at things on the REI site

    I did a search & found this..http://nano.foe.org.au/safesunscreens

I've no idea whether just to follow what the Australian TGA (theraputic goods administration) says or to wander even more sites & never come up with a concrete answer....

This is I suppose an equivalent US site from the EWG.

They don't have Scape listed, but you can go to their main site and search on each ingredient to find safety information.

Parabens are AFAIK always used as preservatives in cosmetics - I'm not aware of any other reason why they're used. Methylparaben is more dangerous than propylparaben, and avobenzone is more dangerous than oxybenzone, but since Scape uses all four ...

Thanks Oak, I appreciate it. If I see the word " paraben(s)" on ingredients, i tend to put the item right back on the shelf.
