    Tire question

The other day I examined the tires of both of my bikes for foreign objects - I did not expect to find anything else.

On one of my Trek's tires I noted a place that appears to have a small ridge up the center of the tire. That bike only has 325 miles on it - that couldn't be a cord starting to come through - could it? Am unsure what that looks like, but it looks different from the rest of the tire and it is not a foreign object.

I am clueless as to else what this might be, but figured someone here would have an idea - I do not think that it would photograph well though I can try it tonight if the description does not seem enough.

This "ridge" (for lack of a better word) is thin and straight and I can feel a slight rise with my finger and is about 4-5 inches long.

The tires are Bontrager Race Lite, 700x28.

Seam. Where the halves of the mold meet. Car tires have them too, if you look.

You found the one on your front tire, right, because you've already worn it off the rear.

Whewww, yes, it was the front tire, and only a portion of it. I didn't know what to think, thanks! Obviously before discovering cycling I have never looked much at tires (other than to test the pressure), or much anything else mechanical
