Limited Edition Giant TCR Alliance T-Mobile Replica.

I tried it at a local LBS today for the fun of it. It didn't really fit my secret-version-of-skinny-self-racing. These are the only specs I could find: the Giant website for Canada doesn't list any. I don't know why they'd be that super secret. I could find lists in Chinese and Italian.

Wouldn't you have your own team name on a bike if you were on a team and living in a fantasy if you weren't? I don't think I'd want to live my delusions of grandeur all that publicly .

Is there a market for these things? Apparently they made 50 of them in Canada. Do ppl ride 'em or just collect 'em?

    YEEEE....KKKK!!!!

OMG. this is just tad much. I know there are tons and tons of poser guys who want to wear the CSC, Astana, Postie now discovery jersey and so on. But a bike???

yeahhh. if you on a good team with sponsorship of sort, you can get a discount and if you are really REALLY good, you can get a freebie bike with your team name on it.

Then again. I don't want to pop the bubble for some wanna be poser and I'll just mind my own business

    I dunno.
How is that any different from the Trek Madone 5.9 SL with "Discovery Channel" plastered all over it??
I know someone who has a bike (oops - forget the brand) with a Gerolsteiner tag on it.
Personally, I would not get a bike with advertising for anyone other than the bike brand on it....but some people like to flash the team colors.

It's a cool looking bike- and if you don't hate T-Mobile- might not be too bad. But I thought they were going to stop sponsoring- that might make it "soooo yesterday" pretty quickly.
    I dunno- it's a pretty bike nonetheless.

Wonder if you could remove the T-Mobile decals? Sometimes you can. Then it would just be a pretty black and white Giant.

With better components than the reg TCR alliance.

I CONFESS! I'm considering it because the componentry is good for the price it's at at my local lbs. But the t-mobile bit is holding me back....I don't wanna look ludicrous and cheesy (which I think the T-mobile bit is). And why not get better componentry at a good price?

The T-Mobile isn't as noticeable as a team kit. I saw a guy wearing a US Postal team kit the other day
It does have decent components and says Ultegra upgrade is available.

Just my own thing- but I really dislike huge logos of any kind on either my clothes or my bike. I wish all logos would be no more than 1 or 2" big.

I spend a lot of time carefully removing loud logos from stuff i buy.

I was lucky. I have two of the old Cannondale R1000's with the women's T-Mobile paint jobs. Black with hot pink flames, but nowhere does it say 'T-Mobile'. Now, it DOES say Cannondale in about 10 places...

I think its cool! I would never think you were a poseur. People wear clothes all the time with their favorite team emblems plastered on 'em for basketball, baseball, hockey--you name it. Why should it be any different for cycling? Go for it! And don't don't apologize for it!

One of the guys in our cycling group has an old Postal Service kit, along with a bunch of other pro-team jerseys. He loves wearing that stuff. Go figure....

I would get one of those team bikes if I could choose a rider to come with it

Yeah...but can he ride like he means it??

DH pondered getting a Jittery Joe's jersey at the CSC Invitational recently. I was surprised, b/c he usually wears only Bike Place jerseys. I think he just liked that it was a coffee product, and he's a bit of a caffeine junky! Unfortunately (?) - they didn't take plastic, and we had no cash. So...no jersey, and DH will continue to fly the flag only for our LBS.

OK, I admit this is easier for me to write than to do...

BUT...if the bike is a great deal, and you want it, go for it! If anyone thinks you look ludicrous or cheesy, and actually gives you a bad time about that, then they have much bigger issues than you do! Walk tall and do what you want!
